They say many things are an art, or it takes an artist or true expression for something to be meaningful art. Maybe art is whatever it means to the person. Who really knows, but we do know that art, if anything, takes discipline, hard work, and a lot of patience.  These three events embody exactly that.

Whisk(e)y Tasting

Local entrepreneur and whisky master Connor Massey will take you through this journey of learning about the different classes and characters of whisky. Although this is a monthly class, March brings you to the world of Irish whisky -- just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day festivities! Join Connor and other whisky enthusiasts for $25 on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Tudor House Liquor Store.  Safe to say whisky tasting is an art of its own.

Growing Food

Do you need help growing your own food? You should check out this event called Grow Your Own Food 101 -- this says it all: the beginner’s guide to all the right steps in growing your food. Led by sustainability activist Kay Siefried, you’ll learn the proper tips and tricks for growing your own fresh product.  She will teach the lesson on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Compost Education Centre in Victoria. Tickets for non-members are $20 and spots are limited!

New Orford String Quartet

This one is a little less interactive, but by no means is it less immersive or intensive.  The New Orford String Quartet comes to Alix Goolden Hall on Thursday, April 4, 2019. Presented by the Victoria Conservatory of Music, these four musicians strut their strings to give you their usual world-class and Juno award-winning performance. Tickets are $20 a head, but youth (18 and under) get in for free!

While tasting whisky, growing food, or classical musical are all considered art, they all have distinct features that will appeal to different people.  To that we say, comfort is universal; if you’re staying in town for just a day or a week, be sure to get the room and bed that’s just right for you.
